Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the article Ambidextrous Organizations: Managing Evolutionary and Revolutionary Change Ambidextrous Organizations: Managing Evolutionary and Revolutionary Change (Tushman, 1996). This article will also be the topic of your assignment in Week 4. An ambidextrous organization is an organization whose different divisions have different structures, cultures, and operation procedures. For example, an organization may use structured and formalized procedures when dealing with manufacturing but allow less structure in research and development.
Explain why the authors recommend that an organization's management consider competing in mature markets for cost, efficiency, and incremental innovation while at the same time developing new products and services. Provide relevant examples.
