From your readings, clearly Orr is promoting the use of team building exercises such as ropes courses, white water rafting, escape rooms, and simulations. She claims a number of beneficial results from such experiences. In contrast, Valdes-Dapena suggests that such team building exercises are pretty much a waste of time and money.
Share an experience that you have had (preferably a work experience rather than a class experience, but you can do the latter if necessary) with such team building exercises. What value, if any, do you believe that they provided? What evidence is there that those benefits were actually realized? If you do not think that they are valuable, explain why they aren't and what you would do to launch a team differently.
