Assignment: Guided Drafting of Informative Writeup
This guided drafting document serves as a worksheet and outline for your writeup. Ensure you follow this document, so your writeup has the appropriate content and organization. While this is not the only way to organize an informative writeup, it is a way to integrate what we have learned.
Some of the guided drafting asks for you to discuss your experiences. Practice writing in an objective form. Avoid "I".
1. Introduction
• Grab the reader's attention with a brief idea about the belief
• State the belief
• Give the thesis statement
2. Definition
• Define the belief (or describe it)
• Define any terms within the belief or within other sections you believe the readers needs to know, even if it is only that you are using a term in a specific way the reader might not expect.
• Transition to the next section
3. Background/History/Research
Provide a paragraph for each major point you find in research. You should have at least three. Cover the Journalist Questions: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How. Cover the areas of history, values, attitudes, and behaviors. How does your belief present itself in your community?
• Give a topic sentence that identifies the main point of the paragraph
• Provide evidence to prove the topic sentence is true/correct/valid
• Transition to the next paragraph or section
4. Analysis
• Provide a statement that provides the compare and contrast of your experiences and your research.
• Provide evidence to support the statement.
• Transition to the next section
5. Conclusion
• Draw a conclusion about the research and your belief.
• Create a call to action as to whether and/or how others might bring the belief into their belief system
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the assignment, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
