It is important to include the victims during the process because it attest to them being heard. They deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, they have experienced enough trauma. Victims often remain in a shell after they have been violated, therefore, the support from Law Enforcement and knowing that they are being taken seriously is another obstacle that they have overcome. Allowing them to tell their story or give an impact statement is necessary in their healing process. They should be made aware of the sentencing and release of defendants. In addition, they should be protected from harassment, intimidation, and physical harm. It is important to acknowledge what happened to them and be supportive. The Bill of Rights is a great way to safeguard the victim. Victims need that sense of security and to know that they are protected.
