When at rest, a proton experiences a net electromagnetic force that has a magnitude of 7.2 x 10-14 N and points in the positive x-direction. When the same proton later moves with a speed of 2.0 x 106m/s in the positive y-direction, the net electromagnetic force decreases to a magnitude of 5.6 x 10-14 N but still points in the positive x-direction.
