Project: Researching a Community Corrections Program
You are to search the Internet for a community-based corrections program operated by any state or county in the United States. (Federal programs are not eligible for this project.) The program be must tax-funded and serve adultoffenders. The program/population which may be specialized by gender, offense or special needs of the offender.
Introduction: Make an introductory statement about the program you are studying -- what do you think the purpose of the program is?
Initially, what do you think the pros and cons are regarding the effectiveness of the program? Did you discover something surprising about the program? If so, what? Do you think that this program would work for all convicts? Or is it especially effective for certain populations and not for others?
Summarize two (2) additional resources that support or discredit the purpose or philosophy of the program you chose or articles that directly supports or criticizes the program.
How does the course instructional material deal with the topics as discussed in the articles? What questions about the program are left unanswered? Are their societal concerns that have not been raised?
Conclusion: Based on your analysis of the program, related articles and course materials, should this program be replicated and continue to be funded?
