Project implementation

Project Implementation Plan

The IT project manager has many tools available in his or her toolbox, such as the WBS, CPA, network diagram or AoA diagram, risk analysis plan, and communications plan. Using these tools ensures that projects are defined, managed, and controlled to achieve the necessary outcomes.

The WBS includes the tasks, milestones, timeframes, duration, predecessors, and resources. The Gantt chart view allows project managers to manage all aspects of project delivery from a single integrated environment. The network or AoA diagram is a logical representation of the WBS tasks and their dependencies. From this, the CPA can then be assessed, calculating the longest path and the shortest time to project completion. The risk management plan is employed by the project manager to capture possible risks, their probability of occurrence, and how each would be managed, if realized. Finally, the communications plan represents the vehicle for communications.

Instructions

In this unit, you will expand on the project proposal overview you have submitted in Unit 2 and delve into the implementation phase of the proposal. This time, you need to provide sufficient level of detail to satisfactorily execute your proposed project and correctly set expectations so that all stakeholders and team members are in sync.
For this assignment, use the same template you chose in Unit 2. Expound upon the information you provided in your project proposal overview to include all the steps or tasks to produce the deliverables. Be sure to include the WBS and any other forms and diagrams you used when submitting this assignment.

Your implementation plan needs to address the following:

• Tasks and schedule: Provide a list of tasks and milestones for the project. The level of detail should be approximately 6-8 hours of work per task. Include schedule details in a WBS, Gantt chart, or timeline table. Be sure to include an analysis of how each task meets your strategic IT planning goals. An automated project management tool, such as Microsoft Project, should be used.

• Budget: Summarize the budgetary estimate (time, cost, scope, and user or customer acceptance).

• Human and technology resources: Include details about the use of people and technology resources in the project. Be sure to provide details regarding your expertise and credentials in the project's subject area along with the resources chosen.

• Risk plan: Describe possible risks, their probability of occurrence, and how each would be managed, if realized.

• Communication plan: Include details on the method of communication (e-mail, project meetings, reports, et cetera) and the frequency of communication for each.

A student work sample is provided for you as reference in the Resources. This can help you understand the scope and level of detail expected of this assignment.

This assignment is due at the end of this unit. Be sure to review the Project Implementation Plan Scoring Guide so you know how your assignment will be graded. Include accurate APA sixth edition citations and references, if applicable.
