Progressive election in us history

The presidential election of the year 1912 was the most progressive in the US history, with the two frontrunners, Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, both espousing Progressive philosophies. Though both Wilson and Roosevelt was Progressive, their attitudes toward the Progressivism differed, at least in theory. I want to write down a paper which will give an opportunity to review the complex nature of Progressivism, and to discover how president's policies while in office frequently differ from their rhetoric on the campaign trail.
