Problem:
175 word response to My research problem statement relates to seniors and loneliness. The problem I have witnessed via personal observation is leading me to research further to understand if this is a problem and what leaders can do to combat this issue. I am framing this problem because I am witnessing many of my friends that are experiencing loneliness and I am interested in understanding if there is something community leaders can do to help with loneliness due to restricted access to senior programs. "Loneliness and social isolation are significant, yet often overlooked, challenges faced by the elderly, affecting their psychological, emotional, and physical well-being (Mathew, 2024)". In addition, "social isolation and loneliness are significant threats to the well-being of older individuals, impacting their mental, physical health, and overall quality of life, often shortening their lifespan and leading to various health issues, (Mathew, 2024, p. 2)". When creating a problem statement according to the University of Phoenix, 2020, "Qualitative studies begin with an introduction advancing the research problem or issue in a study. In addition, the problem statement, "begins with identifying a clear problem in need of investigation, advancing the primary purpose of the study, and specifying the questions guiding the study design" (p. 363).
