Assignment Task: Hello I have been assigned this "Crime Web" activity but I have never done an assignment/activity like this before. If it is possible I would like a better description of how to do said assignment and or a physical example to use as a reference. I have chosen Drinking Under the Influence so do not do that as the crime so there is no possible way for me to not submit a personal assignment.
The directions are listed below:
1. Take a blank piece of paper and turn it horizontally (landscape).
2. Write the name of a crime (robbery, for example) in the center of the page. (most serious, most common, you choose).
3. Draw a circle around it.
4. Now, ask yourself what might be some conceivable reasons that a person would commit such a crime. Try to come up with four or five and place them in a circle surrounding the crime. For example, if you have "burglary" as your crime in the middle of the page, your inner circle around that crime might have items like 'need money,' or 'fund addiction' or 'no job.'
5. Next, go around to each of the reasons you just came up with and ask what might bring someone in to that particular circumstance. For example, using some of the items from above, you might ask 'why might someone need money?' or 'why do people become addicted to drugs?' and potentially write down issues such as 'unemployment' or 'as a form of escape.' Do this for each of your initial responses.
6. Finally, complete one last layer of the 'web' by asking the same type of question of the layer you just completed - for example, 'why are people unemployed?' and 'what might people need to escape from?'
7. Take a look at the web you have created. There should be a crime in the center of the page and then at least 3 layers of the web surrounding it.
