Problem:
How would these results be summarized and what would the reason be for the differences that occurred on the rating scales. A review of the results cited above indicates that the teacher's item endorsements resulted in scores that are Within Normal Limits for 14 of the 15 scales of the BASC-3: TRS. Ms. Jenkin's item endorsements resulted in an At Risk score for 1 scale and Clinically Significant for 0 scales. Her scores are significantly different from those of the BASC-3 that his mother completed. Mrs. Rojas's item endorsements resulted in At Risk scores for 4 scales and Clinically Significant score for 5 scale. All others were Within Normal Limits. Mrs. Rojas and Ms. Jenkins both produced a At Risk score for Social Skills.
The Teacher Rating Scales also include two categories, Learning Problems and Study Skills, which are not included on the Parent Rating Scales. Learning Problems is a measure of whether or not a student is having difficulty comprehending and completing schoolwork. Study Skills is an indicator of the efficiency and effectiveness of the student's study skills, organizational abilities, and timeliness in completing and submitting assignments. Item endorsements obtained from Zekieal's teacher resulted in a score that is Within Normal Limits for Learning Problems and Within Normal Limits for Study Skills.
The Parent Rating Scales contain one category, Activities of Daily Living that is not included on the Teacher Rating Scales. This scale assesses the child's ability to complete age appropriate self-care activities and perform simple tasks around the house. The item endorsements obtained from Mrs. Rojas resulted in a score that is At Risk and suggests that Zekieal may have difficulty performing daily tasks at home in a safe, competent, and efficient manner. Examples of some of the abilities assessed include acting in a safe manner; brushing teeth; organizing chores or other tasks well; and making healthy food choices.
After completing the BASC-3: questionnaire, teachers and parents are also asked to provide general comments regarding the student's behavioral and/or emotional strengths and their concerns regarding the student's behavioral and emotional status. These responses are optional and do not affect the scores posted above. Need Assignment Help?
