The following case study scenario is provided for your consideration and answer to this discussion prompt:

Ismail, an 11-year-old male fifth-grader, recently [three months ago] moved to the United States on refugee status with his parents from Sudan, North Africa. His immigration to the United States was prompted by the country's protracted carnages, in which multiple militia groups comprised of minority ethnic groups combat Sudan armed forces backed by the government in power, reportedly in the execution of an ethnic cleansing plan. To yet, the fratricidal conflict has resulted in the indiscriminate and cruel death of millions of people, as well as the destruction of national assets. As a result, important public infrastructure and services, including the educational system, had been indefinitely shut down. Ismail received a smattering of classroom instruction before to arriving to the United States, having spent three years with his parents in a refugee camp in Kenya, East Africa. His primary education in Sudan was at a Quranic (Muslim) school hosted in the home of an elderly Islamic scholar, where he sat under a baboo tree and on the floor each day to memorize and recite the Qur'an, Muslims' sacred book. Ismail is conversant in Arabic as well as his native South Sudanese tongue, Homo. However, he can only express himself in two or three words in English, such as "Bathroom go" when requesting permission to use the restroom or "have a good night" to his teacher at the end of the school day. Ismail is having difficulty with her classwork in all subjects. He rarely communicates with his peers, both in and out of the classroom, and prefers to sleep throughout class. Ismail is a self-assured young man who enjoys playing the flute, sketching, and singing in his spare time.
