Sexual orientation was the most interesting thing I learned about this weak. Because of our religious restrictions, we are not familiar with different types of sexual orientation back in our home country. Individuals who identify themselves as having any sexual orientation other than straight are considering guilty and should be punished. Parents in my country never talk with their kids about sexual orientation, so we are growing up without knowing of any other type of sexual orientation. I believe whether or not we talk with our kids about sexual orientation, young people receive messages about this topic from various sources including their peers, the media, and the Internet. As parents, we have a crucial role in dispelling myths, challenging stereotypes, and expressing the idea that everyone deserves respect regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
