Many different types of Cardiac dysfunctions such as congenital arrhythmia, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and heart valve disease. The one I will focus on is Congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure is characterized by the inability of the heart to properly pump to the body. Left sided heart failure is when someone has difficulty pumping to the extremities. Right sided heart failure is characterized as having difficulty pimping enough lungs to get oxygen. Someone can be diagnosed with both conditions (National Institutes of Health, 2025).
A very significant diagnosing symptom is the swelling of lower edema extremities. Characterized as pitting edema in the lower legs and feet. Another symptom is increased shortness of breath with little to no activity. Long term issues that develop due to this condition are kidney disease m Pulmonary hypertension, and Oxygen dependency from breathing problems.
The main way to prevent CHF is to manage the causes of other heart conditions such as arrythmias and high blood pressure. Preventative methods for the development of CHF would be proper medication management and a change in lifestyle (Jones, 2025). Smoker cession and avoidance of all tobacco product is a major preventative measure. Also exercising regularly and eating a healthy / low sodium diet will help improve their health status.
