Problem: I came from a middle class family; I just turned 30 last week. I would say, I've grown up pretty quick, raising my little cousins because we all lived in one house (grandparents). There are a lot of cultural activities that I don't practice here anymore, like during holy week, we used to go outings with family, fasting together or eat only fish and vegetables during the lent season. Christmas and new years are also celebrated differently, as a kid, we used to stay up till midnight of Christmas eve and open presents then, to where here, we have to wait till Christmas day. another big part of culture shock for me is the endearment for older people, when I moved to Canada, first thing I noticed is people call each other in first name basis, to where in the Philippines we call older female (Ate- means older sister) and (Kuya- older brother). You don't have to be blood related to call an elder grandpa. Also, people don't get offended back home even if you call them endearments that meant that they are old. Please revise this.
