Problem: You are a psychologist who has just had a 12 year old child named referred to you for an intelligence test using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children 5 (WISC-5). In the referral letter you are notified that the child has been struggling with her written work and verbal skills in the classroom and is falling behind her classmates. She is also seeing a different psychologist already for emotional issues. The intelligence test is being conducted to determine whether the poor performance is due to the associated emotional difficulties they is experiencing or whether there is some other underlying deficit that is causing the poor performance in class.
