Problem regarding water bath with a pvc float

Problem:

This project was very interesting and a great hands on experience for a first timer. Before this course I had absolutely no knowledge of the hydro dip procedure and all of its possibilities. I found that the overall process was strate forward and less than difficult overall. The set up and preparation consumed most of the total time required for the project. The kit provided had everything needed to make me successful in my first attempt.

I put together a water bath with a PVC float just like the example provided and had everything ready to go and organized before starting. I choose to hydro dip a tomahawk handle for my grandson because I have no gun component that I wanted to color. Getting the water temp correct was time consuming because I was not very close to a sink. This I will correct before my next attempt. After laying the film on the water and removing one bubble I was ready to activate and dip. I was not sure that I dipped properly at first but the colors coated the handle completely on both sides and the bottom of the handle. It took longer than I expected to rinse off the slimy residue with warm water than I expected but I finally finished. After several light coats of the clear our handle looks great and I have the confidence to attempt this process again.  I plan on letting the handle cure for a few days before mounting the tomahawk head on it.
