Problem regarding theory of career choice

Problem:

In my intake interview with my male client, I applied the John Holland's Theory of Career Choice during the session. My client indicated dissatisfaction in his previous career fields, working retail, customer service, and as a warehouse associate. So I felt it would be best to apply this theory to match his personality to a suitable job to increase his satisfaction. As a male, he chose jobs that he felt would make him money but the work environment was not the best match for him. Research has shown that men will work whatever job available to support themselves and their families but that results in individuals working jobs that do not factor in the person to environment fit, explained by the theory of work adjustment. Person and environment are parallel in career development. Holland's Theory helped to establish that my client needs a career that caters to his artistic personality. He values freedom and creativity in the workplace and allows him to be his leader. Being that my client was male, I had to factor in the role offender in career choices and opportunities. My client is also African American so he expressed concern about being a black male trying to find the perfect job. Gender played a role in his career experiences, as he felt that he just had to work to make money and not seek a job that he is interested in. Gender also, played a role in his work environment as he felt that men have the dominant role in the workforce and are viewed as more assertive compared to women. This can influence perceptions of person-environment "fit" in the job selection and promotion process. Need Assignment Help?
