Problem regarding the restorative justice

Problem: Restorative justice is an approach that involves bringing the offender and the victims together to repair the harm that has occurred, hold the offender accountable for their behaviors and allowing the victim to have a voice in the process (Procter-Legg et al., 2024). This approach is to help the offender see what their actions really caused, how badly they have hurt others, and build empathy and support for the victim (Islam et al, 2023). This approach is used instead of punitive approach and affects the offender, the victim and their family, and the community. Impact on the Offender Benefits Restorative justice would be beneficial for the offender. It would allow the offender to be accountable for his behaviors and get the opportunity to get treatment to work on his past trauma, including having to care for his grandmother and the loss of his grandmother, that may have influenced his behavior. Restorative justice will also help the offender to build skills to become more understanding and empathic towards the victim and their family (Procter-Legg et al., 2024). This would allow him to better understand what the victim and their family went through and the impact on their lives that his behavior has on them. Islam et at., (2023) research also shows that restorative justice could reduce the risk of recidivism for the offender as well, giving him better outcomes for his future. Need Assignment Help?
