According to research one of the interview styles which yields unreliable information is suggestive questions, these assume information that hasn't been given by the child and adds an element of expectation to the interaction, this encourages them to say what they think the examiner is expecting them to sat which can lead to false claims. Specific questions are also avoided as they have a similar effect in encouraging them to recount things that may not be true, they also may not remember specific details and there's a possibility that they will fabricate answers in order to not disappoint people. Specific questions do have their place however, when children are first asked open ended questions to allow an adult to gain a clear picture of the situation from the child's perspective, specific questions can be good for follow up. These allow the investigator to then gain a clearer picture without unintentionally encouraging the child to fabricate answers as they're only asking specific questions based on the information already given. So, suggestive questions should always be avoided and investigators should also be very careful in using specific questions, they should only be used as follow ups to open ended questions.
