Distributive justice refers to the equitable distribution of environmental burdens from risk-producing facilities and environmental benefits from government and private programs.
Procedural justice refers to fairness in the decision-making process, including the right of all members of the public to meaningful participation in all aspects of agency decisions.
Corrective justice refers to fairness in punishment, including the duty to compensate losses for which one is responsible, and to clean up contamination that one has caused
Social justice encompasses the idea of a more just ordering of society, in which all people have their needs more fully met. In this view, environmental justice is part and parcel of the larger problems of racial, social, and economic injustice facing heavily burdened communities.
You were also introduced to the (UN SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
You will draw upon these sources to propose goals and ethical strategies that might address climate justice concerns.
First, drawing upon the taxonomy of environmental justice and the UN SDGs, propose three strategies that might address climate justice concerns. These strategies might incorporate types of justice or sustainable development goals. To identify a climate justice case, consider using credible news sources to find a recent (within the last five years) example of how climate change is affecting a vulnerable community, either in the United States or internationally.
