Problem on quadratic function

Assignment:

My garden is 18 ft long and 15 ft. wide. I like to decrease the length by x feet and increase the width by the same number of feet. The equation A = (18-x)(15+x) = 270 + 3x - x^2 models the new area of the garden.

Let x = 2 ft.
A = (18-2)(15+2) = 16 x 17 = 272 ft^2
It means that if I decrease the length by 2 ft and increase the width by 2 ft then the new area of the garden will be 272 ft^2.
Let x = 5 ft.
A = (18-5)(15+5) = 13 x 20 = 260 ft^2

It means that if I decrease the length by 5 ft and increase the width by 5 ft then the new area of the garden will be 260 ft^2.

Is this a good example of a quadratic function for an quadratic equation?
