Assignment task: This section should state the issue/ problem of overrepresentation of marginalized youth in the youth justice system and what you hope the political representative will do to resolve the situation as you see it. You should spend between two to four sentences on this section.
This is where you will discuss the issue in detail. Explain exactly what the problem is - provide facts you have obtained through research. Explain how you found out about it, why it is your concern, and how it affects other people including your friends and family and the people in your community. While this section can be as long as it needs to be, keep in mind that the entire letter cannot be longer than two pages, single spaced.
Provide a meaningful call to action. Present your views on the solution. Explain how you think the situation can be rectified and how your idea will address the problem.
Indicate how you think action in this area will benefit the marginalized /overrepresented population, local community and yourself. Your last sentence in this section should be a firm and concise statement about the problem in summation.
