Problem discussing about child whose mother is in jail

Assignment Task: You are a teacher in a high school in an urban area.  One of your students, LaKeitha, was so rude in your class today that you told her that she could not return until you had a conversation with her mother.  She calls her mother and tells you that her mom will be at the school tomorrow at 7:30 am to meet you.  The next morning, you hurriedly get your own family to where they need to be and get to school at 7:15 am.  LaKeitha's mother does not show up.

The next day, Lakeitha is waiting for you before school.  She is crying.  She apologizes profusely for her behavior in your class and tells you the following:  Her dad is in jail.  She is the oldest of five children.  Her mother works two jobs.  LaKeitha tells you that she works at Burger King from 5-9 pm every day to help bring in money for the family.  Yesterday her mother was on her way to school to see you but she got stopped by the police at a traffic check.  Her mother did not have a driver's license, so she got arrested and put in jail.  Her mother is still in jail and LaKeitha is alone with the other children.  She is 15 years old.

Lakeitha asks to be allowed back into your class and she asks you to help get her mother out of jail.

Would you allow her back into your class?  Why or why not? Would you help get her mother out of jail?  Why or why not?  Is there anything else you could do to help LaKeitha and her family?
