Problem based sport and exercise science

Problem: Sport and Exercise Science Assignment -

You are providing physiological support to a male road racing cyclist. You have performed physiological testing before (1st October 2019) and after (31st January 2020) a winter training block.

The training block involved slowly increasing the volume up towards 20 hours per week using 3-week work blocks, followed by one week of low volume. In the latter weeks of each block they might have included some short interval-based sessions, but this wasn't specifically prescribed.

The testing involved the following performance trials (performed on the athletes own racing bicycle attached to an indoor "smart trainer" ergometer, capable of recording power output):

1. Incremental lactate threshold testing. Stage duration of 4 minutes.

2. Critical power testing involving timed efforts of 1 sec, 6 sec, 3 min, and 12 min.

Provide a physiological feedback report of the data provided.

The athlete's primary competitive event (mid-April 2020) is the National 10-mile time trial championship, following which they will then build up to the National Criterium Series.

As part of the report, provide some general advice to him and his coach as to the nature of the training he should be undertaking, and how this should be distributed, over the following months.
