Problem: Please respond to this discussion post. For this discussion, I focused on the prenatal stage of lifespan development. More specifically, both articles I have chosen study the impact of maternal lifestyle decisions on the potential prenatal developmental outcomes for the baby. Considering how the transactions between nature and nurture, even during neonatal stages, has implications on adulthood psychosocial vulnerabilities, these articles provide key insight on how parents can care for their child even before conception (Broderick & Blewitt, 2025). Negative outcomes on neonatal development as a result of maternal obesity is a key finding in the first article. Long term neurodevelopment and metabolic issues, along with other adverse implications, are listed as concerns (Farrah, 2025). The research conclusion calls for intervention analogous to tertiary prevention historically associated with mental health programs (Broderick & Blewitt, 2025). Knowing how environmental, physiological and psychological factors are interwoven, it is not far off to consider psychopathological prevention programs as a method of action in combatting maternal obesity (Broderick & Blewitt, 2025). The second article noted the relationship between a mother's microbiota and the neonatal microbiota of her baby, citing the mother as a "key determinant of immune development and epigenetic regulation" (Meng et al., 2025, p.2). Epigenetic regulation sets the conditions for whether or not a certain gene is. Need Assignment Help?
