Literature Review Instructions:
You will need to complete a 4-6 page paper which will be used to evaluate your mastery of the course objectives. The paper will require you to apply theoretical information and research findings in cognitive psychology. You may choose your topic; example topics are shown on blackboard.
When you choose a topic, you must discuss the cognitive bases of the chosen topic. You can write about the thinking processes, decision making, memory, perception, decision making, etc.
The Literature Review must be written in APA style. Please refer to my APA Style Quick Guide on Blackboard under "Other Documents" for a quick summary of rules of APA style. The best source is to obtain a copy of The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition as this is the actual APA style manual. There are links on blackboard to websites that offer free tutorials on APA style as well.
The Literature Review must also contain a title page and reference page in addition to the minimum 4-6 pages of required text. You will not need to include an abstract for this assignment. The page minimum is 4 pages, not 3.5 pages, not 3.75 pages. Not 3.9 pages. The minimum is 4. This is an upper-level psychology college course and you are expected to be able to write well above 4 pages, however, 4 pages is the minimum. There will be points deducted for papers that are under 4 pages.
The paper must include information from at least 5 references from peer-reviewed journal articles. The references should as well be cited using APA style. If you fail to cite the work of another author, you will receive a zero on the paper for plagiarism (See academic honesty policy in the syllabus for a full description of what constitutes plagiarism). You may use books for sources as well; however, they will not count toward the minimum 5 references from peer-reviewed journal articles.
