Problem about victims of interpersonal violence

Problem:

100 word response to the following post: Victims of interpersonal violence are vulnerable to several types of trauma and negative health outcomes that encompass the entire body. Along with potentially obvious physical trauma such as injuries such as bruises, lacerations, broken bones, etc., victims of IPV can experience unseen negative emotional and somatic symptoms as well. Exposure to IPV puts the victims at risk for several emotional and mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. IPV can cause a victim to experience "betrayal trauma" which an foster a sense of mistrust, insecurity, vulnerability, low self-esteem, and shame; it prevents a victim from forming healthy relationships. Other chronic or latent conditions a victim of IPV can experience include sleep disruptions, cardiovascular problems, disordered eating, substance abuse, and other negative somatic symptoms such as aches and pains (Barboza-Salerno et al., 2025). While there appears to be seemingly endless negative consequences for victims of IPV, participating in trauma-informed care and therapy can provide victims with appropriate resources and support to begin healing.
