The course that I chose with an upcoming exam is SOC 1305: Introduction to Sociology. Our second exam is coming up soon and the study technique I have been using is the teaching others technique, which is an active learning strategy which came from Study Strategies that Work. I chose this technique because over the years I have come to learn that I am an active learner. In order for me to obtain information I have to ensure that I have an understanding of it by explaining it to someone else, or actively reteaching it to myself out loud. While I attended Western Kentucky University, I purchased a white board and began using it to prepare myself for upcoming exams, and after using it to prepare I was doing much better on my exams. So, for my upcoming Sociology exam, I have been writing things out on my white board and talking myself through everything ensuring that I know and understand the difference between each term.
