Problem: My colleague, Richard, referred Jeremiah to me for outpatient substance abuse treatment after Richard said he could not engage him in therapy. According to Richard, he met with Jeremiah once, and they were "not a good fit." Richard made the referral because he thought my style would have a better chance of success with him. Since the early days of my career, I have worked on my ability to engage "difficult" clients. Even early in my career, what I lacked in clinical skill, I made up for by engaging demanding clients and keeping them in treatment. I have always enjoyed a challenge; I suppose this is a by-product of my early years as an athlete. Plus, I knew Richard would provide excellent supervision every step of the way. His support made tackling this challenge appealing. Jeremiah's case certainly qualified as challenging. Need Assignment Help?
