For this weeks post I will be discussing about the recent test that the NASA's Dragonfly passing key test for its upcoming mission to Saturn's moon. With the space exploration as a key point in humanities curiosity, the upcoming mission to observe Titan, on of Saturn's moons. As this missions goal is to visit a world filled with a variety of organic compounds.
The mission is set the be first time that NASA will have a flying vehicle for science on another planetary body. The spacecraft is a multi-mission radioisotope thermoelectric generator that utilizes nuclear power system to convert heat into electricity. They anticipate that this mission will have a lifecycle of 2.7 years.
First case with this mission is there have been several delays such as the increase to the total lifecycle cost of the mission. The mission is anticipated to arrive to Titan in 2034 with it flying to dozen of location on the moon. Seeking for prebiotic chemical process common on both Titian and early Earth.
Personally, I chose this article because of some recent discussion at work about what the next big milestone would be for humanity. However, there have been some interesting points of this mission that have piqued my interest. This mission is a solely relying on a helicopter to take imagery of the Titian. I had many questions regarding this mission like what does this redundancy of the parts how would this look like? What were the key factors of studying Titan with the specific vehicle unlike the rovers for Mars? Need Assignment Help?
