Problem: Clinically write DAP note
Met with youth for session, Sophia reported having a good day in school and remaining on level. Sophia is excited to spend this upcoming weekend with Ms. Robin as she reported they are planning to meet with some of her family members. We discussed Sophia struggles within the cottage as she continues to have many disagreements with both staff and peers. Sophia continues to struggle to understand her role in these situations. We completed a role play scenario, where I was a youth in the program and she was a staff. The situation we played out was a staff telling a youth to go to bed and the youth was refusing. During this scenario Sophia asked me the (youth) to go to bed and I declined and told her to mind her business. Sophia again told me it was time for bed and I then became verbally aggressive, sophia response was she would walk away and go and deal with another kid. So I explained to her as a residential counselor it is the staffs responsibility to ensure that youth follow program rules and expectations. Staff cannot just walk away, the idea of this role play was to get Sophia to understand that staff are responsible for the safety and care of the youth in the program. In addition making sure that youth are abiding by the rules including bedtime protocol, it was explained to Sophia that staff aren't trying to give her a hard time but trying to get her to understand that their are rules in place that need to be followed.
