Assignment Task: Australian Constitutional Law
Topic: In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak, also known as Covid-19, and the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth), consider what constitutional safeguards there are, or ought to be, to prevent the Commonwealth executive from imposing a lengthy detention on someone who is at risk of spreading the disease.
NOTE: Some awareness of the Biosecurity Act is important, but analysis of the Act itself should be kept to a minimum in order focus on the Constitutional issues.
