Prevalence of mental health issues in immigrant populations

Problem: Develop and list a measurable research question that can be used to investigate this problem area: "One problem area that I would like to explore is prevalence of mental health issues in immigrant populations, including how mental health issues are viewed in different immigrant communities and what is done to address them. In my opinion, it's important to examine this topic since immigrants are at higher risk of experiencing extreme stress or depression and not seek treatment for it. It happens because of complex interplay of factors that include, but not limited to, having to adjust to a new way of life, xenophobia, loss of identity, or/and social status due economic hardships given that most immigrants would not be able to immediately get the same type of job they had in their home countries, in addition some immigrants could have witnessed traumatic events such as war, violence, or/and political/religious persecution at home. Besides, immigrants who are experiencing PTSD, anxiety, or depression may postpone seeking professional psychiatric help due stigma related to mental health in many different cultures, inability to speak local language, no insurance, absence affordable healthcare options, and fear of immigration enforcement agents. And of course, the consequences of a lack of timely psychiatric intervention can be catastrophic. But more research in this area may help to advocate for Enhancement of mental health Services in immigrant communities." Need Assignment Help?
