President Trump wants to make America Great again. Do you think that the US is still a global hegemon or a declining power? Why or why not? If the US is a declining power (you may disagree with the assumption that the US is a declining power) is there any relationship between geopolitics and the policies of revisionist powers such as China, Russia and Iran. To answer this question, students should read the following articles in the text:"The Return of Geopolitics: The Revenge of the Revisionist Powers,""Drifting to 2016" "The Once and Future Hegemon," "The Once and Future Superpower: Why China Won't Overtake the United States". Students are expected to refer to points in these articles. The main points of some of these articles are also summarized in weekly session 1.
In addition, you can refer to any material on the internet that may be useful in answering this question that deals with the role of the U.S. in global affairs. For example, you may find some useful information on the home page of the U.S. State Department, or the home pages of some of the think tanks mentioned in the syllabus. For example, the Atlantic Council, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, or the Hudson institute issue reports and have videos of meetings that deal with current issues of global affairs. Make sure that all of your direct quotes and close paraphrasing are attributed to your sources of information.
