Assignment
Task: You will create a Profile of a Place, in which you convey your experience and understanding of some place in the world. This could be a place you know well or it could be a place you don't know well but want to spend time observing. Keep in mind what we have discussed: spaces gain meaning through people's actions (including rhetorical actions), and this transforms spaces into places. You are required to write 750-1000 words, but you are also encouraged to use other media to help build you profile. In this way, the assignment can be multimodal.
Also, since you are the one who knows your audience best, it is your responsibility to develop a profile that is most appropriate for the rhetorical situation. For more detailed instructions, follow this link as we will be using Evaluation Criteria: A successful Profile of a Place will do the following:
• Demonstrate that the writer understands how to enter a specific rhetorical situation and address a specific audience
• Present a convincing and engaging profile
• Offer a unique or interesting perspective on the world
• Be free of distracting grammatical, stylistic, and mechanical problems, as appropriate for the genre.
