For this assignment, you will incorporate the information you have learned on memo writing and prepare an informal proposal. After identifying your primary and secondary audience, prepare a short planning proposal (one single-spaced page in memo format) for improving an unsatisfactory condition on the job or in the college program you are currently involved in. Direct the memo to the person responsible for the condition you are proposing to change. You should choose a problem whose solution or resolution is more a matter of lucid observation and common sense than of intensive research. However, you must dosome research on the problem and/or the solution. Be sure to (a) identify the problem clearly, give a brief background, and stimulate interest; (b) clearly state the methods proposed to solve the problem; and (c) conclude with a statement designed to gain audience support.
