In Qualitative Data Analysis, Miles and Huberman (1994)* quoted Fred Kerlinger as saying, "There's no such thing as qualitative research. Everything is either 1 or 0" (p. 40), but also quoted D. T. Campbell as saying, "all research ultimately has qualitative grounding" (p. 40). It is important, however, to understand that qualitative and quantitative research are valued in the research world and are often used together under a single research project.
