For this assignment you will be asked to prepare a rhetorical analysis that will be presented to the class in the form of a 4 5 minute oral presentation. This analysis will be of any argumentative piece of writing that you choose (some sort of editorial might work best). You do not have to turn in a paper, per se, but you will be asked to turn your notes as part of your evaluation. During the presentation, I want you to cover the following:
Give the authors name, any background info that is available, and the name of the source your article comes from.
State the authors Thesis (this should be quoted directly from the text of the argument).
Summarize/highlight key points from the text using direct quotes (summary should be two minutes long for full credit).
Discuss the rhetorical situation (Purpose, Audience, Stance, etc.) for the piece (be specific as possible).
Talk about any strengths or weaknesses of the argument (focuses too much on one appeal, biased, provides insufficient evidence to support claim, has an unsure or overbearing tone, etc.)
