ASSIGNMENT
For this essay, as in the first, let's continue to pretend that you have been selected to be a student representative on a curriculum development committee at The Ohio State University. The committee's task is to design a required reading curriculum for OSU freshman. The committee was so impressed with your submission arguing that Homer's Iliad should be required reading that they have come back to you for more advice. This time they want you to compare Homer's Iliad to two other works of ancient Greek literature that  they have heard are pretty thought-provoking: Homer's Odyssey and Euripides' Trojan Women. This time the committee wants your opinion about which of these three works are best suited for OSU freshman.

In this essay, you, as the student representative for the curriculum development committee at OSU, must answer the question: which work of literature should be required reading for every freshman at OSU, the Iliad, the Odyssey, or the Trojan Women. To earn an "A" on  this paper, students must account for the citizen identity of each OSU student, based on the seal's motto Disciplina in Civitatem, "Education for Citizenship."

To develop your argument, think about the observations, provocations, and inspirations we've discussed in class. The essay must state its thesis in a short introductory paragraph, followed by a few body paragraphs actually making the argument. As part of its evidencethe essay must cite specific passages of at least two of the three works of literature at least twice each (not necessarily quote, but cite), using book number and approximate line number (9.310) for Homer, and line number (605) for Euripides. You may only use the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Trojan Women as evidence.
