Your team has been made responsible for completing the feasibility study of the proposed wind turbine project and to make a recommendation to Jiminy Peak management on whether to install a wind turbine. Address the following questions as part of your analysis and recommendation on whether Jiminy Peak should proceed with the purchase and installation of the wind turbine.
1. Using pertinent information from the case text, prepare a capital budgeting analysis of the wind turbine project using the payback and net present value or internal rate of return models.
2. Identify and evaluate the environmental advantages and disadvantages of the wind turbine project (you may need to Google to find further supporting information).
3. Identify and evaluate the social and any other factors not already mentioned that are pertinent to the wind turbine feasibility study.
4. Draw on your responses to 1 through 3 above to prepare a well justified recommendation to Brian Fairbank on whether the resort should proceed with the wind turbine project, incorporating both financial and non-financial considerations.
