Problem: Practice the different methods of interpreting a work of art. Select a rich work of art in history, such as Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Portrait or Artemisia Gentileschi's Judith Decapitating Holofernes (these two works are excluded from your choosing). In your writing, consider the artwork using two methods of analysis (formal, iconographic, contextual, biographical, feminist, or psychological), your first analysis must be formal analysis. You will develop your own understanding and interpretation of this artwork that takes into account what you have learned from all of the modes of analysis introduced in this module.
