Poverty can really affect a person mentally. They see no way out and nothing changes. These feelings and attitudes can be passed down to kids. It's almost like saying "this is how it is and it's not ever going to change". Poverty can become a mind set. Some people do work very hard to get out of poverty and bad areas to live in but some people work hard and still can not get out of poverty. Financial strain like that in hard on relationships and keeping a positive mind set and keep working hard. The negative drives a person down so much sometimes that it looks like a person has no more work ethic or commitments. Even if they do get out of poverty, I think the negativity they have been taught to feel or have felt does still follow them around and affects other aspects of their lives. I think it is just the constant struggle to live that causes the "culture of poverty" but I do think it does exist. Do you think that "culture of poverty" exist?
