Discussion Post: Trauma-Related Victim Populations
Some political scientists and victim advocates argue that individual victims and specific localities are best served by providing federal resources rather than federal mandates, so that victim needs could be assessed and addressed within the context of the community. Ultimately, it will be the task of helping professionals to determine whether or not victims are being well-served in their communities in the current era of crime control.
Post a description of one trauma-related victim population to research (e.g., domestic violence survivors, abused elderly victims, mentally ill victims of crime, etc.) and provide a summary of the population and their relevant biopsychosocial needs. Explain whether the needs are being addressed by available community resources aimed at supporting this population. Be specific.
