Respond to this discussion post in three sentences and ask a question. I believe that although it is possible to mix professional and social l it is not something you should do. There is always the possibility of conflict of interest. Conflict of interest could severely hinder the professional relationship, social relationship, or both. Mixing the two can also blur the lines of when interactions are purely professional and purely social. A situation where someone takes a professional decision personally could forever hinder the social relationship. Not every personal social relationship will interfere with professional relationships. There are instances when individuals are capable of maintaining both professional and social relationships. I believe it highly depends on the capability of the individuals involved to do so. I believe a social relationship with a current client are definitely unethical. It becomes a conflict of interest. I don't' believe you can, in good mind, provide unbiased and effective care to a client if there is a social relationship with them. Having that social relationship will alter the view you have of that client and your interpretation of that client's situations if you are also part of those situations.
