Instructions
This assignment requires you to research your assigned country's (Democratic Republic of Congo) position on each of the agenda items for Topic: Global Health and Wellness.
Agenda Item 1: Exploring individual and concerted efforts member states may undertake in order to reduce the incidence and duration of disease outbreaks, with special attention to conflict zones and disputed territories.
Agenda Item 2: Considering current vaccine mobilization efforts and discussing other methods by which large-scale disease outbreaks can be mitigated by and through the United Nations.
Please respond to the following questions for both agenda items in the topic guide.
- Explain how is your country is affected (Directly? Indirectly? Politically? Militarily? Economically?) by this issue. Why is it important to your government?
- What is your country's official policy on the issue? What steps has your government taken to address issue thus far? Briefly analyze the effectiveness of any existing policy(ies).
- Could the policies of your country be adopted by the United Nations? Who do you need to convince to turn your policy into UN policy?
- Are there countries who have policies that align with yours and would make natural allies on the topic? Or are there countries who will adamantly oppose policy changes on these issues?
- Identify where your government would likely compromise to facilitate a solution.
