Plasma Proteins - Circulation

The total protein concentration of the plasma is around 7% only. The plasma proteins are of three types - serum albumin (4%), serum globulin (2.7%) and fibrinogen (0.3%). Serum albumin and fibrinogen are produced in the liver. The serum globulin is derived from the microphage system of the body. Serum globulins can be electrophoretically separated into three fractions, the alpha, beta and gamma globulins. The gamma globulins or immunoglobulin fractions are synthesised in lymphocytes.
