Plan of the new road and junctions superimposed on the site

Project Brief: You are working for a consulting engineers office and have been asked to design a road to access the building site in the bordered area shown in the attached site plan (Figure 1 a&b) from the junction at the main road (i.e. to link points A and B). Your task also includes the design of a suitable car park for an office building within the bordered area in addition to the planning/management of the route of the road. For the junction and turning head, there is no need to design these in detail but to show their layout with suitable values of curb radii and central island' diameters.

The completed project should be submitted in the form of a bound report (see the enclosed report structure) containing the following:

• Plan of the new road and junctions superimposed on the site plan, and detailed drawings of the vertical and horizontal alignments. These should be folded and attached to the end of the report.

• Explanation of how the values of the geometric design parameters (speed, radii, length of curves, etc) are decided.

• Design and Layout of a car park for 12 vehicles (within the bordered area).

• Design charts and tables used should be annotated and inserted within their corresponding sections.

• Management of the route/route location including suitable measures to deal with any structures/obstacles along the line of the new road and with reference to sustainability, EIA, and H&S issues relevant to the scheme.
