MAKE sure you pay attention to the directions AND do an editorial/advertising split of one issue. Figure out the percentage of ad pages compared to article/content pages. Two ad pages for every editorial page means the magazine is making money....or not? Also, what does an ad cost?
Pick a magazine or newspaper you wish to research and become an expert on it. You must thoroughly analyze three different copies and the web site that accompanies the publication.
Remember to post your selection FIRST on the discussion question, as no two people can have the same publication, then research your sources well.
The memo (2-3 pages + bibliography) will be graded on originality, and creative content, and whether you understand your topic and how it captures the target market it intends to. Make sure you define the target market and do an analysis of both the articles and the ads contained in the publication.
