Pick a branch of the military, and then a division or unit, from 1877 to the present. Research in the library or from the course bibliography what kind of treatment and opportunities African Americans received. Describe the history of African Americans in that division or unit. If you wish to use a website in addition to the library or course bibliography, ask my permission. Responses are not required and will not be graded, but I encourage you to engage in discussion with other students. Grading will be with the grading rubric for essays. Therefore, you cannot use the textbook or encyclopedias. Remember that this is a formal essay and you need an introduction, body, and conclusion.
